Keyboardist, composer and performer, Cheick-Tidiane Seck, is one of the most prolific and experienced artists from Mali. Seck’s childhood was spent learning the local traditions of his Manding cultural heritage, but like many West African musicians, he looked toward Western popular music for a new, complementary source of inspiration.

With experience playing both popular and traditional music, his style is undeniably recognized for his ability to portray the varied and complex nature of music from West Africa, which often features a variety of cultures mixed with contemporary and traditional styles of music.

One of his most notable works is the 1995 album “Sarala” in which he collaborated with jazz pianist Hank Jones.
